Hillsborough County Launches Urgent Holiday Food Pantry Events

UPDATE: Just announced, Hillsborough County’s Healthy Living Program is teaming up with Feeding Tampa Bay to host urgent food pantry events aimed at combating food insecurity this holiday season. Scheduled for November 16 and November 17, 2023, these events will provide vital support to residents in need.

As the festive season approaches, many in the community are facing the harsh reality of food scarcity. The Healthy Living Program is stepping up efforts to ensure that everyone can celebrate without the stress of an empty pantry. Monthly food distributions, featuring fresh produce, meats, and essential pantry items, will be expanded this November and December to offer extra support during the holidays.

Residents aged 18 and over can access these services, regardless of income level. This initiative is not just about providing temporary relief; it aims to promote ongoing health and wellness within the community. The upcoming food distribution events will take place at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center on Thursday and at both the Plant City Healthy Living Center and SouthShore Healthy Living Center on Friday.

The Healthy Living Program is committed to ensuring that assistance goes beyond food distribution. Residents can also take advantage of free access to exercise rooms, group fitness classes, and nutrition consultations. Monthly classes will be available at four Healthy Living Centers throughout the county, making good nutrition and fitness more accessible than ever.

In addition to these resources, local organizations such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry are stepping up to provide essential food and clothing assistance, reinforcing a strong network of support across Hillsborough County.

Residents seeking more information about these services can drop by the Healthy Living Program offices or call directly for assistance. This holiday season, the Healthy Living Program is determined to ensure that no one in Hillsborough County has to celebrate without proper nutrition.

With these critical food pantry events on the horizon, community members are encouraged to participate and share this vital information to help spread the word. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most during this festive season.
