UPDATE: Four men, including a former sheriff’s deputy, are now facing multiple charges following a violent bar fight earlier this month. The shocking incident occurred on November 3 at the Backwoods Icehouse, located at 3301 Dreibrodt Road, prompting immediate action from local law enforcement.
According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), the fight involved two officers: former deputy Sheriden Murray and Blanco County constable officer Manuel Hernandez. Responding deputies identified Alberto Trujano Jr. and Juan Herrera as additional participants. Trujano was arrested on a warrant for parole violation and charged with disorderly conduct related to fighting. Herrera was hospitalized for injuries sustained in the brawl and later faced similar charges.
The investigation, led by the GCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers Division, has resulted in significant developments. Arrest warrants for Murray and Hernandez were issued on November 19 and 20, with Murray charged with unlawful restraint and Hernandez charged with disorderly conduct. Notably, Hernandez was placed on administrative leave during the inquiry and was subsequently fired before being booked into the Guadalupe County Jail.
Sheriff Joshua Ray emphasized the department’s commitment to accountability, stating, “
Our personnel will be held to the highest possible standards of conduct and accountability. I will not tolerate any form of unbecoming or criminal behavior from a law enforcement officer—of any agency—and especially from within my own ranks.
”
As of Thursday morning, Murray had not yet been taken into custody for his arrest warrant. The ongoing investigation continues to unfold, raising questions about the conduct of law enforcement personnel and the implications for community trust.
This incident highlights the urgent need for transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies. As the situation develops, further updates are expected, and community members remain on alert regarding the actions of their local officers.
