UPDATE: Fort Worth residents preparing for Thanksgiving will need to adjust their trash collection plans as the city announces a temporary schedule change. This modification allows for additional garbage disposal without extra charges, ensuring a smooth post-holiday clean-up.
The City of Fort Worth confirmed that trash collection scheduled for Thursday, November 23, 2023, will now take place on Friday, November 24, 2023. Meanwhile, collections normally occurring on Friday will be moved to Saturday, November 25, 2023, to accommodate the holiday festivities.
In a generous gesture, residents are allowed to put out up to two extra bags of garbage during their first collection day following Thanksgiving. These additional bags must be placed on the curb next to the brown garbage cart and should not exceed a standard 32-gallon kitchen trash bag.
“Extra bags are to be set on the curb next to your brown garbage cart on your appropriate collection day,” the City of Fort Worth stated in an official announcement.
This policy is a timely relief for residents who might find themselves with more waste after holiday celebrations, and best of all, there will be no additional charge for this temporary allowance.
Residents whose collection days fall earlier in the week—Monday to Wednesday—will not experience any changes to their schedule. However, they too can take advantage of the extra bag policy during their first collection day in early December 2023.
For more detailed information regarding the adjusted trash collection schedule, residents are encouraged to check the official City of Fort Worth website.
This proactive adjustment not only eases the burden for Fort Worth residents but also highlights the city’s commitment to community service during the holiday season. As families gather to celebrate, this initiative ensures that cleanup is just as convenient.
Stay tuned for further updates as the holiday approaches, and prepare for a festive yet manageable Thanksgiving in Fort Worth!
