CU Buffs’ Arden Walker Aims for Bowl Eligibility Amidst Urgency

UPDATE: Arden Walker, senior defensive end for the Colorado Buffaloes, is focused on turning the team’s fortunes around as they prepare for a crucial matchup against Arizona this Saturday at 5 p.m. MT at Folsom Field. With a disappointing record of 3-5 (1-4 Big 12), Walker is determined to help lead his team to bowl eligibility.

After a crushing 53-7 loss to Utah last week, Walker knows the stakes are high. “We’ve got to get to six wins, really. That’s the bowl eligibility number,” Walker stated. “For us to play in December, we’ve got to continue to make sure we can get wins.” The urgency is palpable as the Buffaloes aim to rebound from their recent struggles.

Walker, a graduate of Cherry Creek High School, is eyeing the 2026 NFL Draft but is fully committed to the immediate goal of securing victories for the Buffaloes. “I’m really looking forward to just making the best efforts to help the team and get us to where we want to go,” he said. “We’ve got three crucial wins we need to get.”

Despite their recent setback, the Buffs previously upset then-No. 22 Iowa State 24-17 on October 11, showcasing their potential. Walker believes that if they can harness that energy, a bowl game is within reach. “We didn’t do what we were supposed to, clearly by the score and how we played,” he said, emphasizing the need for a strong response this weekend.

Head coach Deion Sanders has consistently reminded players that winning will enhance their exposure and opportunities in the NFL. Walker recognizes the importance of his performance, noting, “If I do my part and make sure that we get the wins that we need to, I feel like it’s completely where I need to be.”

As one of CU’s top edge defenders, Walker has accumulated 32 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks this season, despite missing a game due to injury. He aims to elevate his game further in the coming weeks. “I really want to take it to the next level, so I’ve got to continue to keep stepping up,” he emphasized.

With only a few games left in his college career, Walker’s drive to succeed is stronger than ever. “I want to help the team, and the success of the team is going to help me,” he said. As the Buffs gear up for a pivotal game against Arizona, the time for action is now. Fans and supporters alike are eager to see if Walker can lead the Buffaloes to a much-needed victory and a step closer to bowl eligibility.
