Austin Launches Urgent Free Spay/Neuter Clinic for Pets

URGENT UPDATE: Austin Animal Services has just launched a FREE spay/neuter clinic for pets in Austin and Travis County, running from November 13 through November 17, 2025. This groundbreaking initiative, in partnership with Greater Good Charities, aims to alleviate the financial burden many pet owners face, offering spay and neuter services along with FREE vaccinations, microchips, and flea/tick prevention treatments.

This clinic will serve as a critical response to the ongoing crisis of animal overpopulation, which has led to an increase in stray and homeless pets. “As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe,” said Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services.

The clinic, located at 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758, is set to help an estimated 1,200 animals during this week-long event. This is the sixth clinic of its kind in the past year, with previous events successfully providing surgeries to more than 5,000 pets. This free clinic aims to further reduce the number of unintended litters and roaming animals in the area.

Pet owners are urged to arrive early, as services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration begins daily at 6:00 am and continues until 10:00 am or until capacity is reached. The typical cost for spay/neuter procedures can range from $75 to several hundred dollars, making this free service a vital opportunity for many families.

This initiative not only provides immediate assistance but also reinforces responsible pet ownership, contributing to the overall safety and well-being of the community. While the overwhelming response may present some logistical challenges, the focus remains on uplifting the lives of pets and their owners in Austin.

For residents in need, this clinic represents a beacon of hope, ensuring that all animals have access to essential health care. As organizers prepare for another event slated for early 2026, the community’s commitment to responsible pet care and animal welfare continues to grow.
