Injuries marked a challenging Week 8 for several NFL teams, with notable players such as Cam Skattebo, Quinshon Judkins, and Saquon Barkley suffering setbacks. Evaluations are underway to assess the severity of these injuries and the expected timelines for recovery as teams prepare for upcoming matches.
Injury Reports from Week 8
The New York Giants confirmed that Skattebo sustained a dislocated right ankle during the second quarter of their 38-20 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles. Following surgery on the evening of October 26, 2025, a league source indicated that Skattebo is out indefinitely due to the nature of his injury. Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll expressed sympathy, stating, “I feel absolutely terrible for the young man. Obviously, you saw it. It looked bad.” Skattebo had accumulated 12 rushing yards on three carries and caught an 18-yard touchdown pass prior to his injury. Over his first eight games, the fourth-round pick recorded 617 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns.
The Giants also faced additional injuries, with tight end Daniel Bellinger (neck) and cornerbacks Art Green (hamstring) and Cordale Flott (concussion) exiting early in the game. The Giants will host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9, while the Eagles, currently holding a 6-2 record, will take a bye week.
In a separate incident, Barkley, the star running back for the Eagles, suffered a groin injury in the third quarter of the same game and did not return. In a postgame interview, he reassured fans by saying he is “good,” attributing his exit to the team’s substantial lead. Barkley had an impressive performance, logging 174 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, including a remarkable 65-yard run early in the game.
Additional Injuries Across the League
The Cleveland Browns also dealt with injury woes as Quinshon Judkins exited during the second half of their 32-13 loss to the New England Patriots. Coach Kevin Stefanski expressed hope for Judkins’ recovery after he recorded 19 yards on nine carries. Other Browns players, including cornerback Tyson Campbell (concussion) and safety Rayshawn Jenkins (groin), also left the game early.
Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills faced a significant loss when defensive tackle Ed Oliver sustained a biceps injury during their 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Coach Sean McDermott stated he did not have further updates on Oliver’s condition but acknowledged that he is expected to miss some playing time. Panthers offensive lineman Brady Christensen is projected to miss the remainder of the season due to an Achilles injury, while defensive lineman Derrick Brown left the game with a knee issue but is expected to recover.
The Cincinnati Bengals reported that pass rusher Trey Hendrickson aggravated a right hip injury during a close 39-38 loss to the New York Jets. Coach Zac Taylor did not provide updates on Hendrickson’s status. The Jets also dealt with injury issues, including safety Andre Cisco who left due to a shoulder injury.
As teams evaluate their rosters and prepare for the next round of games, the focus remains on the recovery of these key players. The NFL’s Week 9 schedule includes significant matchups, with the Bills set to host the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jaguars facing off against the Washington Commanders in the league’s final game of the week.
