Nelly Korda Announces Engagement to Businessman Casey Gunderson

Nelly Korda, the acclaimed golfer currently ranked No. 2 in the world, has announced her engagement to businessman Casey Gunderson. The 27-year-old LPGA Tour star shared the news on Friday, posting several professional photos with Gunderson, which quickly garnered significant attention on social media, amassing nearly 115,000 likes. The engagement comes after Korda’s previous relationship with NHL player Andreas Athanasiou ended in 2022.

Korda’s engagement post received congratulations from various sports figures, including WNBA star Caitlin Clark, who expressed her excitement for the couple. While Korda’s past relationship with Athanasiou was well-documented, details about Gunderson remain relatively private. He is a graduate of Bryant University and has built a successful career in business, currently serving as the Vice President of Florida Engineering LLC. The company focuses on developing both commercial and residential projects across Florida and other major states.

Gunderson’s background is distinct from the world of professional sports. Although he played football as a wide receiver at Cardinal Mooney High School and attended the IMG Academy, he did not pursue a career in athletics. Instead, he began his professional journey at Bisnow as an associate and later joined Florida Engineering LLC, where he has risen through the ranks.

Korda’s relationship with Gunderson marks a new chapter in her life following her split from Athanasiou, a Canadian hockey player who remains a free agent. Athanasiou was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and has played for several teams, including the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings. After dating for three years, Korda and Athanasiou reportedly separated in early 2022.

As Korda prepares for her wedding, she is also looking ahead to the upcoming golf season. Despite not securing a victory in 2025, Korda finished as a runner-up twice, including a near-miss at the prestigious Women’s U.S. Open. This performance contributed to her losing the World No. 1 status to Jeeno Thitikul, but Korda remains optimistic about the future.

Reflecting on her experiences, Korda stated, “I feel like there was a lot of ups and downs, and it made me grow a lot mentally. I would say I’m just also very grateful for it because, you know, success is never linear.” Her resilience and dedication have not gone unnoticed, as Clark acknowledged Korda’s hard work and passion during their time together at the 2025 LPGA Annika pro-am. Clark remarked, “It’s been cool to watch her over the course of the last year. She put in a lot of time to create her own PE, and very unique to her and what she’s passionate about in herself, and obviously somebody that is very, very deserving, and been at the top of the sport for a long time now.”

With a promising future ahead, both personally and professionally, Korda’s journey continues to captivate fans and fellow athletes alike.
