Baxter High School senior Eli Dee has earned significant recognition in Iowa football, being named to the second team of the Iowa Football Coaches Association’s all-state squads. This accolade follows an impressive season where Dee showcased his skills after transitioning from quarterback to wide receiver.
After making the switch in the middle of the previous season, Dee received a first team all-district selection. His performance in 2025 solidified his status as a key player, returning to the all-district team and achieving even greater accomplishments. Throughout the season, he completed both of his passing attempts for a total of 45 yards and rushed for 63 yards, scoring one touchdown on just six carries.
Dee’s impact was further highlighted by his ranking among the top ten players in multiple categories within Class 8-man football. He finished the season with 50 receptions, which tied him for ninth in the class, while his total of 809 receiving yards placed him seventh. Notably, Dee caught 16 touchdown passes, ranking fourth in the division, underscoring his effectiveness as a wide receiver.
This season’s achievements not only emphasize Dee’s adaptability but also his dedication to the sport. His shift from quarterback to wide receiver reflects a strategic move that has paid off handsomely, both for him personally and for the Baxter football program.
As Dee prepares for future opportunities, his all-state recognition is a testament to his hard work and talent on the field. The accolades serve as inspiration for aspiring athletes, demonstrating that versatility and determination can lead to success.
