The Class 4A Super Regional wrestling competition concluded on February 17-18, 2024, at Augusta High School in Kansas, where over 30 teams competed for a chance to qualify for the state tournament. Colby emerged victorious, edging out Chapman by just one point, with a final score of 145 to 144. This year’s event marked the second iteration of the Super Regional format for Class 4A, allowing the top eight wrestlers in each weight class to secure a spot in the upcoming state tournament scheduled for February 27-28 in Salina.
Colby showcased a strong performance, particularly on the second day, rallying to secure the championship. The Lady Eagles not only captured the title but also qualified eight wrestlers for the state competition. Scott City made history as well, tying for sixth place and sending a record five wrestlers to state. Among them, Haylie McDaniel claimed the regional championship in the 110-pound weight class, demonstrating exceptional skill throughout the tournament.
Holcomb finished in 12th place and qualified three wrestlers, with Amyah Caro earning the title of regional runner-up. Ulysses placed 13th, qualifying four wrestlers, all of whom secured sixth-place finishes in their respective weight classes. The competition was marked by fierce battles on the mat, with notable performances from various athletes.
The accolades for outstanding performances were awarded as well. Andrew Flanagin of Colby was named Regional Coach of the Year, and Morgan Hills received the title of Regional Wrestler of the Year after winning the 135-pound weight class.

The 110-pound division saw Scott City’s Haylie McDaniel triumph over Chloe Rott of Clay Center with a decisive score of 7-0. The 135-pound category featured Morgan Hills of Colby, who won by fall against Tristin Compton of Hoisington in 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
