The Christian Heritage Lions secured a decisive victory against the Armuchee Indians, winning 42-7 in their final regular season game on October 27, 2025. This win not only capped off the Lions’ season with a commendable overall record of 7-3 but also reinforced their position as a formidable contender in the playoffs, with a region record of 6-1. Meanwhile, Armuchee concluded their challenging season with a winless record of 0-9.
The game, held at the Lions’ Den, proved to be an overwhelming display of skill and teamwork from Christian Heritage. Their dominance was established early, as the Lions quickly took control of the game, achieving a running clock in the second half.
A stellar defensive effort marked the Lions’ opening moments. During Armuchee’s second possession, junior defensive end John Stanley recovered a fumble, signaling the start of a relentless offensive charge. Freshman quarterback Charlie Baxter connected with senior tight end Benji Michmerhuizen for a 21-yard touchdown pass, putting Christian Heritage on the scoreboard at 7-0 after junior kicker Luis Salinas successfully executed the extra point.
The Lions continued to apply pressure on their opponents. Armuchee’s sophomore quarterback Riley Millican faced a fierce defense, resulting in an interception by senior strong safety Sawyer Corn, although it was nullified by a pass interference penalty. Not to be deterred, the Lions’ defensive line, featuring players like Henry Hill, Kyric Rockholt, and Mason Terry, managed to sack Millican, forcing another punt.
The Lions quickly ramped up their scoring. Hill rushed for a 19-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 14-0, followed by a defensive fumble return for a touchdown by Cooper Middleton, which made it 21-0. Armuchee found some defensive momentum when senior linebacker Cason Wade recorded a sack on Baxter, but it was not enough to derail the Lions’ offensive machine.
As the second quarter unfolded, Baxter threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Rockholt, further increasing the Lions’ advantage to 28-0. Following another turnover, the Lions were forced back momentarily by a personal foul but regained momentum with Baxter scoring on a 1-yard rush, bringing the score to 35-0 before halftime.
The second half began with a running clock and Beau Moore, the Lions’ sophomore backup quarterback, taking over. Moore added another touchdown with a 17-yard rush, capping the Lions’ score at 42 points.
Armuchee managed to score their only touchdown late in the game, with senior running back Devyn Davis crossing the goal line. Kicker Dimitri Castro successfully converted the extra point, providing a brief moment of celebration for the struggling Indians.
With this win, the Lions secured their second consecutive victory over Armuchee, maintaining their second-place rank in the Region 7-A Division 1 standings, finishing behind Gordon Lee, who ended the season undefeated in the region.
Baxter concluded the game with impressive statistics, completing 16 of 22 passes for 247 yards, placing him fifth in state rankings for total passing yards this season with 2,406 yards. On the ground, Hill achieved 54 rushing yards, while Tatum contributed significantly with 87 receiving yards from four catches.
As the Lions prepare for the playoffs, Baxter expressed optimism about their chances, noting the team’s growth throughout the season. He stated, “I feel good going into the playoffs. We feel like we keep getting better every week, and I’m hoping to see who we play.”
Terry echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and training rigorously as they head into the postseason. “I feel like we’ve got a solid shot of making it pretty far into the playoffs,” he said.
With a playoff berth secured, Christian Heritage awaits the announcement of their opponent and game date, ready to build on their successful regular season performance.
