Remembering Suzanne R. Rubincam: A Life of Love and Music

Suzanne R. Rubincam, a beloved resident of Palos Verdes Estates, California, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Redondo Beach. She was 84 years old and leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and cherished memories.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Evanston, Illinois, Suzanne attended Northwestern University, where she first met her future husband, Paul Pierre Rubincam, Jr.. Their love story began when Paul charmingly crashed her Debutante Ball, leading to a marriage that lasted over six decades.

A Life Dedicated to Family and Music

After their wedding, Suzanne and Paul moved to California, settling in the Lunada Bay neighborhood for 55 years. Known affectionately as Sue, Susie, and Grammy, Suzanne dedicated her professional life to teaching music at Rolling Hills Country Day School. There, she inspired countless children through elaborate performances that ignited their passion for the arts.

Outside of her teaching career, Suzanne enjoyed spending summers at the beach with friends at the Portuguese Bend Club. She filled her cooler days with needlepoint, showcasing intricate pieces that she often gifted to family and friends. An avid pianist, she also had a green thumb, nurturing her roses that flourished under her care.

Suzanne’s warmth and vibrant personality lit up any room, and her famous lemon meringue pie became a cherished treat among her loved ones. As a devoted mother to Rich Rubincam and Amy Rubincam Steadman, as well as a loving mother-in-law to Denise and Will, she delighted in her role as Grammy to her three granddaughters: Chloe Rae Rubincam, Summer Elizabeth Steadman, and Mia Christine Steadman.

Love and Legacy

Family and friends will remember Suzanne and Paul as an inseparable couple, often seen as the best dancers at any gathering. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and it is believed they are now dancing together once more.

In accordance with Suzanne’s wishes, no funeral service is planned. Instead, the family encourages donations in her memory to support research for Alzheimer’s disease.
