Jack Bassett began his career in law enforcement in 1965 when he joined the Santa Ana Police Department after completing four years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He climbed the ranks from patrol officer to Area Commander, ultimately taking on the role of Chief of Police in Santa Cruz.
