Momin Khan, a 23-year-old entrepreneur, is set to open Moe’s Hot Chicken & Grill in Voorhees, New Jersey, bringing his culinary vision to life. The restaurant, located at 1227 Haddonfield-Berlin Road, aims to offer a unique dining experience inspired by Khan’s family background and travels.
Khan’s journey into the restaurant industry began in his teenage years while working with his father in a New York City eatery. “We ran a restaurant for around three years, similar concept. It was a Texas chicken place in the city,” Khan shared, reflecting on his early aspirations. After relocating to Laurel Springs, New Jersey, at the age of 19, he initially pursued a retail career. However, an unexpected turn of events reignited his passion for food.
During a job interview that did not go as planned, Khan received a call from his realtor asking if he would be interested in purchasing a restaurant. He described the moment as a significant turning point, stating, “If God closes a door, he opens up a gate for you.” This philosophy guided him as he prepared to establish his own business.
Moe’s Hot Chicken & Grill is designed with a Southern-inspired aesthetic, featuring brick walls and warm wood accents to create a welcoming atmosphere for families. The menu will not only focus on traditional hot chicken offerings but will also include grill favorites such as cheesesteaks and smash burgers. Khan plans to introduce a fusion menu, inspired by his travels, which will feature dishes like a butter chicken cheesesteak and an authentic New York-style gyro.
In addition to the diverse menu, Moe’s will offer special wing sauces tailored for the Philadelphia Eagles season. Khan, who has a background in graphic design, created the restaurant’s logo while watching an Eagles game, further emphasizing his connection to the local community.
Khan expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture, stating, “This is a lifelong dream. This is to keep the family united and make sure everyone succeeds in their goals and aspirations.” He views this restaurant as an opportunity for personal growth and community engagement.
