A high school student in the Valley has established an initiative aimed at enhancing both mental and physical health through inclusive movement. Saniya Dwivedi, a junior at Xavier College Prep, founded Health In Movement, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting community connection and accessible exercise for all.
Saniya’s inspiration stems from her older brother, who initiated his own nonprofit during high school. With a vision to reach underserved youth, Health In Movement organizes various activities, including pickleball tournaments in collaboration with students from Arizona State University and adaptive fitness workshops for visually impaired children. These events not only foster fitness but also build a sense of community among participants.
Expanding Opportunities for Youth
The nonprofit’s efforts extend beyond local activities. Health In Movement has partnered with local legislators to advocate for mental health policies and has actively supported orphanages in New Delhi by providing sports equipment and exercise programs. Such initiatives aim to create opportunities for youth who may often find themselves excluded from traditional fitness environments.
In an upcoming workshop with the Foundation for Blind Children, Saniya plans to provide adaptive fitness sessions that cater specifically to young individuals with visual impairments. This event is part of her broader mission to ensure that fitness and health resources are inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
ABC15’s Cameron Polom reported on Saniya’s inspiring journey and the impact of her nonprofit. The story highlights not only her dedication but also the potential of youth-led initiatives to drive meaningful change in communities.
Saniya’s work exemplifies how young individuals can leverage their passions to create significant societal benefits. As Health In Movement continues to grow, it sets an example for others, demonstrating that movement can indeed be transformed into medicine for all.
