Readers Share Their Current Favorites in January Book Series

The popular online community, Daily Kos, is inviting book enthusiasts to share their current reading experiences in a series titled “What Are You Reading?” (WAYR?). This initiative encourages participants to not only disclose their reading choices but also to engage in discussions surrounding the literature.

Among the books highlighted this week is Obsession: The Life and Times of Octavia E. Butler by Susana M. Morris, which delves into the influential life of the renowned science fiction author. Additionally, readers are exploring How to Travel with a Salmon and Other Essays by Umberto Eco, a collection of thought-provoking essays that reflect Eco’s unique perspective on various topics.

Weekly Schedule of Literary Discussions

To facilitate ongoing engagement, Daily Kos has established a structured schedule for its readers and book lovers series. The sessions are designed to cater to diverse interests, with discussions occurring at various times throughout the week.

On Sundays, the series kicks off with Let’s Talk BOOKS at 16:00 EST, hosted by Angela Marx. This is followed by the Young People’s Pavilion at 18:00 EST, featuring a monthly special on the last Sunday, hosted by The Book Bear. Later in the evening, the LGBTQ Literature discussion takes place at 19:30 EST, led by Chrislove.

Mondays feature The Language of the Night at 20:00 EST, hosted by DrLori, while Tuesdays showcase Contemporary Fiction and Nonfiction Views at 20:00 and 22:00 EST, respectively.

Wednesdays are reserved for Bookchat at 20:00 EST, followed by Write On! on the first Thursday of each month at 20:00 EST. The series also includes a Monthly Bookpost at 14:00 EST on Thursdays and WAYR? on Fridays at 07:30 EST, with a special Books Go Boom! session later that evening at 20:00 EST.

Saturdays feature unique programs such as You Can’t Read That! and Paul’s Book Reviews at noon, followed by Books So Bad They’re Good at 21:00 EST, which is currently on temporary hiatus.
