Students from Pine Tree and Spring Hill high schools recently showcased their musical talents by performing with the prestigious 2026 Texas All-State Symphonic Band. Clarinetists Logan Blondrage from Pine Tree and Sunny Kim from Spring Hill qualified for this elite ensemble following a rigorous audition process. This involved multiple levels of competition, including district, region, and area events throughout the school year.
This performance marks the second time Logan Blondrage has been selected to participate in a Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State organization, highlighting his dedication and skill. School officials emphasize that being chosen for an All-State concert represents the highest accolade a music student in Texas can achieve. The audition process begins with approximately 60,000 students competing for a place in one of the 18 ensembles, with only 1,830 students, or the top 3%, ultimately being selected.
The selected musicians participated in four days of intensive rehearsals during the TMEA Clinic/Convention before their performance. The All-State Symphonic Band took to the stage on Saturday at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, captivating the audience with their talent and hard work.
Agriculture Students Excel at Fort Worth Stock Show
In addition to musical achievements, two East Texas students gained recognition for their agricultural skills at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on February 5. Savannah Isgitt, a member of the Hallsville Future Farmers of America (FFA), received a $500 Calf Scramble purchase certificate, sponsored by Coleman Livestock Auction. Similarly, Ryan McGuire from Marshall FFA also earned a $500 Calf Scramble purchase certificate, with sponsorship from Thornton Cattle Co.
The stock show features 23 rodeo performances, where participants compete to catch one of 10 calves during the Calf Scramble event. Those who successfully complete the scramble and exhibit their heifer at the 2027 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo become eligible for scholarships ranging from $500 to $16,000.
School districts and campuses are encouraged to share their news, contributing to a vibrant community narrative. This blend of musical and agricultural success highlights the diverse talents of students in the region.
