A new shop in Newark, known as The Raven’s Hearth, is bringing an alternative approach to Christmas gifting this December. Opened by former chef Shanice Taylor in December 2024, the store specializes in spiritual items, handmade gifts, and wellbeing products. “The Raven’s Hearth was created to be a warm, welcoming space for anyone who loves something a bit different,” Taylor said. The shop’s shelves are filled with an array of items, including crystals, tarot and oracle decks, handmade jewellery, artwork, incense, candles, carved wands, upcycled fashion, and various “witchy” treasures. Many of these products are crafted by small makers and independent artists, making them unique alternatives for those seeking personal gifts this Christmas or Yule.

As it enters its second year of operation, the popular Sisterhood Circle will return, aiming to foster community connections. Additionally, festive craft workshops are attracting many new faces, where participants can create items such as brooms, Christmas or Yule decorations, cards, and straw goats.
