Logan Heights Nonprofit Launches Holiday Toy Drive for Local Kids

The nonprofit Logan Heights Community Development Corporation has initiated its annual holiday toy drive, known as Toys for Kids, aimed at supporting local children in need. This initiative is designed to provide gifts to approximately 570 children from infancy to age 17 across 200 families in the Logan Heights area.

The organization is currently accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys. Last year, community support helped the nonprofit address a significant shortfall in toy donations, allowing them to assist nearly 1,000 families. Unfortunately, this year’s donations have decreased, prompting the nonprofit to limit registration to 200 families, which filled up in less than 12 hours. The greatest need is for toys suitable for children aged 6 to 17.

Donations can be delivered daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through December 4 at the Logan Heights CDC, located at 3040 Imperial Ave. Additionally, contributions can be made online at onecau.se/_e8bdm1.

The distribution of toys for registered families will take place during the annual Light Up Logan community celebration on December 5, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Soap Factory, located at 2995 Commercial St. This festive event will feature various holiday activities, a market showcasing local businesses, and an annual tree lighting ceremony. Families can also look forward to kids’ crafts, the experience of real snow, visits with Santa, and live music.
