Enhance Your Skills: Join Tigers Together Suicide Prevention Training

Healthy Campus at Clemson University is set to host a series of Tigers Together Suicide Prevention Advocacy Trainings in early February 2024. These sessions aim to equip participants with vital skills and knowledge necessary to effectively address and support college students facing suicidal thoughts.

The training is open to all students, faculty, and staff at Clemson University, ensuring broad participation across the campus community. The focus of the program is on improving empathic listening and communication skills, which are crucial when engaging with individuals who may be struggling emotionally.

Training Details and Objectives

Scheduled sessions include:

  • Wednesday, February 4, 2024, from 15:30 to 16:45 at 260 Daniel Hall Expansion
  • Thursday, February 5, 2024, from 11:00 to 12:15 via Zoom

Participants will learn how to compassionately and directly inquire about suicidal thoughts, fostering an environment where students feel safe to express their feelings. The training emphasizes the importance of recognizing personal emotional reactions, enabling advocates to respond more effectively to the needs of their peers.
