The Christian Heritage Lions concluded their regular season with a commanding 42-7 victory over regional rivals the Armuchee Indians on October 27, 2025. This win not only marked the Lions’ seventh victory of the season, bringing their overall record to 7-3 and their region record to 6-1, but also secured them a spot in the upcoming playoffs.
Armuchee, struggling throughout the season, finished with a disappointing 0-9 record, hampered by injuries and tough competition. The Lions dominated the game from the outset, showcasing their strength and strategy, which allowed them to run the clock in the second half due to their substantial lead.
The Lions’ defense set the tone early when junior defensive end John Stanley recovered a fumble during Armuchee’s second possession. This pivotal play paved the way for the Lions’ first scoring drive, culminating in a 21-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Charlie Baxter to senior tight end Benji Michmerhuizen with just under nine minutes left in the first quarter. Following junior kicker Luis Salinas‘ successful extra point, Christian Heritage took an early 7-0 lead.
Armuchee’s struggles were compounded when sophomore quarterback Riley Millican threw an interception to senior strong safety Sawyer Corn, although the Lions could not capitalize due to a pass interference penalty. The Lions’ defense continued to pressure Millican, leading to a series of sacks and forcing punts.
The Lions quickly extended their lead to 14-0 when Henry Hill rushed for a 19-yard touchdown. Shortly after, Cooper Middleton recovered a fumble and ran it back 15 yards for another score, increasing the advantage to 21-0.
The first quarter saw Armuchee’s senior linebacker Cason Wade making a significant defensive play by sacking Baxter. Despite this, Baxter connected with freshman wide receiver Jacob Tatum for a remarkable 58-yard gain, although the drive ultimately faltered due to a fumble.
The second quarter continued in favor of Christian Heritage, as Baxter completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kyric Rockholt, followed by a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Baxter himself. With the score at 35-0, the Lions demonstrated their offensive prowess and resilience.
In the second half, the Lions maintained their momentum. Backup quarterback Beau Moore joined the action, adding to the score with a 17-yard rushing touchdown, solidifying a 42-0 lead.
Armuchee managed to score their sole touchdown late in the game, with senior running back Devyn Davis crossing into the end zone from the 1-yard line, assisted by senior kicker Dimitri Castro who made the extra point. The Lions’ victory marked their second consecutive win over Armuchee, following a 45-26 triumph in the previous year.
With this victory, Christian Heritage secured second place in the final standings of Region 7-A D1, behind Gordon Lee, who finished the season undefeated in the region. Baxter’s performance, completing 16 of 22 passes for 247 yards, placed him fifth in the state for total passing yards with 2,406 yards this season.
As the Lions look forward to the playoffs, Baxter expressed optimism about their performance. “I feel good going into the playoffs. We got the job done tonight,” he stated, emphasizing the team’s growth throughout the season. Senior player Terry noted his satisfaction with ending his regular season career on a high note, highlighting the importance of teamwork and preparation as they aim for playoff success.
With their playoff opponent and date yet to be announced, Christian Heritage is poised to build on their strong finish as they pursue a championship run.
