The seventh edition of Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) took place at the Qatar National Museum in Doha, celebrating the achievements of emerging fashion designers from the MENA region. The event, attended by notable figures including FTA Honorary Chair Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, marked a significant occasion for young talents to gain recognition and support in the competitive fashion industry.
The evening unfolded in the stunning setting of the museum, designed by architect Jean Nouvel. Guests included international celebrities, industry leaders, and global media, all gathered to honor seven designers who emerged from a pool of 21 finalists. FTA Co-Chairs Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Tania Fares welcomed attendees with a message of resilience and creativity.
In her address, Sheikha Mayassa highlighted the challenges faced by the MENA region, stating, “The MENA region has endured one of its most challenging chapters in decades… what continually moves me is the strength of our community.” Her words resonated throughout the evening, as the spotlight shone on the designers who continue to innovate despite adversity.
The awards ceremony showcased a variety of talent, with each winner receiving not only accolades but also significant financial support and mentorship opportunities. Among the recipients, Youssef Drissi won the Ready-to-Wear Award for his label, Late for Work. His collection, presented during Paris Fashion Week, is noted for its deconstructed designs that reinterpret everyday fashion with a rebellious spirit.
Another standout, Ziyad Al Buainain, took home the Eveningwear Award for his transformative gowns that adapt with simple adjustments, showcasing high glamour with practical elegance. The Accessories Award went to Leila Roukni from Morocco, whose bags blend innovative design with cultural heritage, while Farah Radwan received the Jewelry Award for her contemporary interpretations of traditional motifs.
The Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award celebrated Alaa Alaradi for her HEAD Geneva graduate collection, which navigated the balance between fluidity and structure. Bahrain’s sisters, Fatema and Dalal Alkhaja, won the Fashion Tech Award for their 3D-printed bags, which combine futuristic aesthetics with practicality.
This year’s showcase also highlighted India as the guest country, with designer Kartik Kumra recognized for his artisanal approach to fashion through his brand, Kartik Research.
The star-studded guest list included renowned actors such as Adrien Brody and Emma Roberts, alongside fashion icons like Gisele Bündchen and Natalia Vodianova. Their presence added to the celebratory atmosphere, which included performances by artists like Chaka Khan.
Industry veterans praised the evening’s focus on craft and creativity. Francesco Risso, a former designer at Marni, noted the dedication of the young designers, emphasizing their time commitment to their pieces. Calvin Klein’s creative director, Veronica Leoni, remarked on the designers’ deep-rooted connections to their cultural heritage, which shapes their unique perspectives.
As the night concluded, two honorary awards were presented. Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad received the Trailblazer Award, while Miuccia Prada was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. In accepting her award, Prada reflected on the importance of cultural exchange, stating, “…it celebrates cultural exchanges and collaboration, which, in times like these, feels more important than ever.”
The event not only recognized individual talent but also reinforced a collective commitment to building a vibrant future for fashion in the MENA region. As emerging designers continue to showcase their creativity, Fashion Trust Arabia remains a vital platform for nurturing the next generation of fashion leaders.
