BeIN Media Group has renewed its broadcasting agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA), ensuring ongoing coverage of NBA games across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This extended deal allows BeIN to air up to nine regular-season games per week, alongside coverage of the Playoffs, Conference Finals, and NBA Finals. The broadcasts will be available in Arabic, English, and French, catering to a diverse audience in the region.
The games will be shown on BeIN’s dedicated sports channels, which are included in its standard pay-TV service, as well as on its streaming platform, TOD. Since acquiring MENA broadcasting rights in 2008, BeIN has maintained a significant presence in sports media, reflecting the growing popularity of basketball in the region. Recent NBA pre-season games held in Abu Dhabi have further highlighted the sport’s appeal, positioning basketball as the second most popular team sport after football.
Commitment to Multilingual Sports Coverage
“Our broadcast partnership with the NBA is one of the longest and most valued in our portfolio,” stated Mohammad Al-Subaie, CEO of BeIN MENA. He emphasized that this renewal reinforces BeIN’s status as a leading provider of sports content and demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering world-class coverage across multiple languages and platforms.
In a statement, Matt Brabants, NBA Senior Vice President and Head of International Content Partnerships, remarked, “Through live games, highlights, and original content available in Arabic, English, and French, fans will continue to enjoy unprecedented access to the league’s most thrilling moments.”
Expanding NBA Presence in the Region
This agreement marks the second significant NBA rights announcement of the week, following a multi-year deal for Disney+ to stream NBA games in the Philippines, which will provide live coverage on both Disney+ and ESPN for the first time in that market.
The renewed partnership between BeIN Media Group and the NBA underscores the league’s strategy to expand its reach and engage with fans globally. With basketball’s rising profile in the MENA region, the agreement positions BeIN as a crucial player in the regional sports broadcasting landscape, ensuring fans will have access to some of the most exciting moments in basketball history.
