Walmart Unveils Remodeled Thomasville Supercenter After Major Upgrade

Walmart has completed a significant remodel of its Supercenter located at 15328 US Highway 19 S. in Thomasville, Georgia. The transformation, which took 14 weeks, encompasses a total area of 171,709 square feet and introduces a variety of enhancements aimed at improving the shopping experience for customers. A re-grand opening ceremony was held on November 7, 2025, to celebrate the completion of this project.

The most prominent feature of the remodel is the addition of checkout registers, which have increased from eight to a total of 24. This change is expected to streamline customer service and reduce wait times. Other highlights of the store’s upgrades include a complete overhaul of the fashion department, updated lighting fixtures, and renovated flooring.

Store manager Andrew Katsarelis emphasized the positive impact of these improvements. “The whole Supercenter looks much improved thanks to these changes, as the modernization of the store will make a huge difference for our shoppers,” he stated. Katsarelis pointed out that the lighting had not been updated since the store’s opening, making this enhancement particularly significant.

In addition to these changes, the store has undergone a visual refresh with updated signage and an extensive renovation of the electronics department. Incorporating the “Store of the Future” concept, the remodel features high-tech elements designed to enhance customer interaction and convenience. These include the use of QR codes and automated retrieval systems, which are intended to facilitate a quicker checkout process.

The remodeled Supercenter also boasts a new Dunkin’ location, further catering to customer needs. Other Walmart locations in the region, including those at 361 Eighth Ave. NE in Cairo and 262 Cordele Road in Albany, are also undergoing similar renovations.

This year, Walmart has set an ambitious target to remodel over 650 stores across the United States, with plans to upgrade 20 locations in Georgia alone. Over the past five years, Walmart has invested more than $1.1 billion to enhance its stores throughout the state. Currently, Walmart operates 209 retail units and 13 supply chain facilities in Georgia, employing over 65,000 associates.
