Dacre Montgomery Signs with Anonymous Content Ahead of Film Release

Australian actor Dacre Montgomery has signed with Anonymous Content for representation, just days before the U.S. theatrical release of his latest film, Dead Man’s Wire. This hostage thriller, directed by Gus Van Sant, is based on the true story of the 1977 kidnapping that transformed Tony Kiritsis into an unexpected folk hero. Montgomery stars alongside Bill Skarsgård in this gripping narrative.

The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and subsequently screened at the 50th annual Toronto Film Festival. For his performance, Montgomery has earned a nomination for the AACTA International Award for Best Supporting Actor in Film, highlighting his growing acclaim in the industry.

Upcoming Projects and Directorial Debut

Following Dead Man’s Wire, Montgomery is set to appear in Daniel Goldhaber’s reimagining of the 1978 cult classic, Faces of Death. This project will feature a diverse cast, including Barbie Ferreira and Charli XCX. In addition, he recently concluded filming for his directorial debut, The Engagement Party. This psychological drama unfolds on a remote island, where two couples gather to celebrate an engagement, only to confront buried memories that threaten to disrupt their relationships. The film, written by Jory Anast, includes performances by Montgomery, Lily Sullivan, Abbey Lee, and Arlo Green.

Earlier in the year, Montgomery showcased his versatility by taking on dual roles opposite Vicky Krieps in Samuel Van Grinsven’s Went Up the Hill, which competed at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival. His previous film credits also include Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar-nominated Elvis, Natalie Krinsky’s romantic comedy The Broken Hearts Gallery, and Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers.

Recognition and Popularity

On the television front, Montgomery gained international fame for his portrayal of Billy Hargrove in the Netflix hit series Stranger Things. His performance on the series garnered him significant recognition, including topping IMDb’s STARmeter for several weeks and receiving two nominations for a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble cast.

Montgomery remains represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, continuing to solidify his place in the competitive entertainment industry. As he embarks on new projects and expands his creative horizons, audiences can anticipate more compelling performances from this talented actor.
