Travelers will soon have increased direct access to popular vacation destinations as Alaska Airlines announces the addition of seven new routes to its schedule. Set to launch in mid-June 2024, these updates will simplify travel to the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, enhancing connectivity for holidaymakers.
Alaska Airlines confirmed the expansion from its hubs in Anchorage, Alaska, and Portland, Oregon. This initiative includes three new nonstop routes from Anchorage to Boise, Idaho; Boston, Massachusetts; and Spokane, Washington. Meanwhile, four new routes will be established from Portland, connecting travelers to Bellingham, Everett/Paine Field, and Pasco in Washington, as well as Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines, highlighted the importance of these routes for travelers. She stated, “Anchorage and Portland are essential airports for our guests and for our growing global network. The state of Alaska remains high on travelers’ wish lists, especially in the summer months, and we’re excited to add new nonstops to get them there.”
The new routes from Portland will allow passengers to connect through Portland International Airport (PDX) to more than 65 nonstop destinations, including popular locations in Hawai‘i and Mexico. These connections are expected to significantly enhance travel options for vacationers.
Flights from Anchorage to Boise, Boston, and Spokane will operate from mid-June through mid-August, aligning with the peak summer travel season. This expansion means that Anchorage will offer a record total of 17 nonstop destinations in the contiguous United States and Hawai‘i during the summer months, reflecting the airline’s commitment to meeting growing travel demand.
The introduction of these new routes is part of Alaska Airlines’ strategy to strengthen its network and provide greater flexibility for travelers. As summer approaches, the airline aims to capitalize on increased interest in destinations like Alaska, which remains a favorite among tourists seeking outdoor adventures and scenic beauty.
With the addition of these flights, Alaska Airlines continues to position itself as a leading carrier for summer travel, enhancing accessibility to some of the most sought-after vacation spots in North America.
