BREAKING: The City of Dunwoody has just been awarded a top-10 position in the 2025 Digital Cities Survey, recognized for its innovative use of technology in public service. This prestigious accolade from the Center for Digital Government (CDG) highlights the city’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity, governance transparency, and digital equity.
Dunwoody, with a population of 51,844, was honored during the award event held at the National League of Cities’ City Summit in Salt Lake City. This recognition places Dunwoody among the leading cities with populations up to 75,000, showcasing its significant impact on community involvement and transparency.
Teri Takai, Chief Programs Officer at the CDG, emphasized the importance of this award.
“What stands out this year isn’t just the technology, it’s the focus on the impact on constituent services,”
she stated. Takai praised cities like Dunwoody for applying innovation in ways that directly enhance public safety and community trust.
Dunwoody has made strides in practical applications that resonate with its residents. Key initiatives include launching an open checkbook, creating an online records portal, and implementing SeeClickFix to streamline service requests. The city is also improving communication with residents through new digital signage and diverse outreach channels.
In an exciting move for public safety, Dunwoody has unveiled a state-of-the-art Real-Time Crime Center. This facility integrates data from advanced technologies, including Flock Safety drones and ForceMetrics AI, to enhance situational awareness and improve response times. Ginger LePage, Dunwoody’s Technology Director, expressed pride in her team’s efforts to leverage technology for the community’s benefit.
“Being recognized nationally affirms that our efforts are making a difference here at home,”
she noted.
The CDG’s recognition also reflects the remarkable transformation of Dunwoody’s IT infrastructure. The city has implemented a significant overhaul of its network and transitioned major systems to the cloud, ensuring uninterrupted services across various departments through a comprehensive business resiliency plan. Eric Linton, Dunwoody City Manager, remarked,
